The Tenaga Nasional Berhad art collection is one of the oldest corporate collections of Malaysian art in the country. It comprises over seventy works of art, and includes key paintings by pioneering local artists. Today it stands as an important testament of our Malaysian artistic heritage.
Galeri Tenaga houses TNB’s art collection in one dedicated space and is open to the public for viewing. Apart from exhibiting its own art collection, TNB also strongly believes in its corporate responsibility towards Powering Communities. Galeri Tenaga’s doors are open to provide a supportive and conducive space to help and encourage artists wanting to exhibit and promote their art.

The collection began in the 1960s during the time of the late Raja Tan Sri Zainal bin Raja Sulaiman (General Manager, National Electricity Board, 1964-1974), with the acquisition of key works by Hoessein Enas, a central and influential force in the development of local figurative art, as well as other pioneer works from the period. In the years to follow, Tan Sri Dato’ Abu Zarim bin Haji Omar (General Manager, National Electricity Board, 1974-84), with the help of his Deputy Secretary Dato’ Seri Mahmud Badri bin Haji Basir, built on this promising start, actively collecting local art on a regular basis. |
