Power Disruption On 13th January 2005Print this page 

Kuala Lumpur , 13 January 2005 – Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) faced a power disruption that involved several states in the Peninsular since 12.16 in the afternoon.

The power disruption was due to faulty switchgear at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, Kapar, Selangor power station and simultaneously affected the grid system to the southern states. TNB recorded a power loss of 1,700 Megawatt. The cause of the incident is still being investigated.

The areas affected were Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor. Efforts to restore electricity was done in stages since 1.40 pm. As at 5.00 pm, the electricity supply to all the states were totally restored. The area of Kluang, Johor was the last area to be restored.
