TENAGA NASIONAL BERHAD (TNB) organised the Environmental AND Occupational Health and Safety Conference and Award Ceremony 2006 at Marriott Putrajaya Hotel, Putrajaya from 8 May - 9 May 2007. Through this event, TNB illustrates its continued commitment to cultivate a safe and healthy working environment for its employees. This year, the event which was organised by Occupational Health and Safety Unit, Human Resource Division, is to promote occupational health and safety activities to the employees and public, highlighting the importance of working in a safe environment and living a healthy lifestyle. In this award ceremony, TNB presented 18 awards to give appreciation to the divisions and power stations for their excellent efforts in occupational health and safety management through the Safety Excellence Management System (SEMS). "TNB power stations' achievement for being conferred the Gold Award by the Malaysian Society for Occupational Safety & Health (MSOSH) for their excellent safety practices and record has benefited TNB in its excellent achievements", said TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Y.Bhg. Dato' Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh. The recipients of the award were Stesen Janaelektrik Serdang, Stesen Janaelektrik Sultan Iskandar (Johor), Stesen Janaelektrik Tuanku Jaafar (Port Dickson), Stesen Janaelektrik Jambatan Connaught dan Stesen Janaelektrik Gelugor (Pulau Pinang). Besides that, several TNB power stations were also awarded the National Occupational Health and Safety Excellence Award 2006. The theme - "Powering Our Resources Towards World Class Society" was selected in line with the company's objective to cultivate the occupational safety and healthy lifestyle as the company's work culture, as well as to achieve excellence.
