TNB Chinese New Year (CNY) Greeting Advertisement “Let’s Share the Celebrations” has been awarded the 1st Prize Winner of the Most Meaningful Category in the 2015 CNY Award organised by Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press.
There are two award categories - Most Meaningful and Most Creative awards. Out of the 29 prizes, only eight prizes were given away for this CNY greeting ad award. The winners were voted by the readers of Nanyang Siang Pau and China Press which comprised of about 8,000 voting entries in Peninsular Malaysia with an estimate total of 1.1 million readers nationwide.

Yogyakarta, Indonesia was the host to the 7th Annual Global CSR Summit & Awards 2015 on 19th March 2015 at Sheraton Mustika Yogyakarta Resort and Spa.
The Global CSR Awards 2015 is Asia’s most prestigious recognition awards programme for Corporate Social Responsibility. This prestigious award recognizes companies for outstanding, innovative and world class products, services, projects and programmes implemented in the year 2014 to 2015. The projects must demonstrate the Company’s leadership, sincerity and ongoing commitments in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, and respect for individuals, communities and the environment in the way they do business.
Over 200 senior executives from multinational and leading corporations in Asia attended the event and witnessed the awards presentation graced by guest of honour Prof. Dr. Ir. Tahlim Sudaryanto from The Ministry of Agriculture.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) was presented with Energy Company of the Year Award during the inaugural 5th Annual Power & Electricity Awards 2014.
TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Ir Azman Mohd was also honored with Asian CEO of the Year Award for two years in a row during this prestigious ceremony. The other nominees for the Award were from National Power Corporation, Philippines; Manila Electric Company, Philippines and PT. Medco Power, Indonesia.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has been top ranked for “Electric Utilities in Asia” in the coveted Platts Top 250 Global Energy Company Rankings for 2013. The national utility corporation also took 15th spot in Asia in terms of “Overall Performance” in the rankings, announced at the Platts Top 250 Asia Awards Dinner held in Singapore.
Mirroring other elite Asian companies that moved up in the rankings, TNB’s global ranking surged to the 66th position from 90th in 2011. Platts is a leading global commodity information provider and the rankings are based on assets, revenue, profits and return on investments in the previous fiscal year.
TNB’s Chief Corporate Officer Dato’ Roslan Ab Rahman represented the company’s President/CEO Datuk Seri Ir Azman Mohd in receiving the award in the presence of Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili. “This award is dedicated to all our employees, wherever they are, for making this company a pride of the nation,” said Roslan.

Transmission Division TNB has made history when it was recommended as the first part in the organisation of electricity utility in Southeast Asia certifications PAS 55-1:2008 (Asset Management System), Transmission.
The announcement was presented by Bernard Woods, Head of Lloyd’s Register United Kingdom (UK) at the closing of the PAS 55-1:2008 assessment that took place on 30 May 2013 at NLDC Building, TNB Headquarters.
The Transmission Division has undergone a two-stage evaluation held on 28 to 31 January 2013 and 21 to 30 May 2013. Auditors from Lloyd’s Register (UK) had informed that the certification is awarded to Transmission after the division managed to comply with the technical evaluation of the Lloyd’s Register. This includes an adequate action plan to close any non-compliance and audit plan monitoring (surveillance audit) that has been agreed.

Associate Professor Dr. Hanim Salleh, a researcher from Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN), who is also the Deputy Dean of the College of Graduate Studies has won the ‘Invention for Women Order of Merit’ in the women’s category (individual category) recently held at the World Inventor Award Festival 2012, Seoul, Korea.
The award, known as ‘Order of Merit’ takes into account all contributions to inventions, intellectual property and innovative creations for industrial developments around the world.
World Awards Festival was held to stage the success of innovators around the world to encourage the next generation in the field of invention. Each award is presented at the World’s Fair Inventor Award and has its own value because no other awards presented are of the same kind.

Ir. Asnawi Mohd Busrah, a researcher at TNB Research Sdn. Bhd. (TNBR) was awarded the ‘Best Paper Award’ in the category of Power Engineering Applied in the 3rd International Conference on Advancements in Electronics and Power Engineering (ICAEPE’2013).
He presented a paper entitled ‘Development of Macro-Level Approach to Estimate Losses in Malaysian Technical Distribution Network’ and won the award.
The conference organised by Planetary Scientific Research Centre (PSRC) in collaboration with the Integrated Scientific Engineering and Management Society (ISEM) and held on 8 and 9 January 2013 in Kuala Lumpur.

TNB was awarded the ‘Blue Print Award 2011’, a RAM Awards of Distinction in recognition of a New Project Finance Benchmark Deal on 26 April, 2012; Manjung Island Energy Berhad (MIEB) issued up to RM5 billion in Islamic bonds while TNBJ received an AAA rating for the sukuk financing of its Greenfield free power plant in Malaysia. The transaction received the Asia Pacific Bond Deal Award for 2011 from Project Finance International and was named the Ijarah Deal for 2012 by Islamic Finance News.

TNB has been awarded the winner of Excellence Award (Public Listed Company) for National Award for Management Accounting (NAfMA) 2011. The Excellence Award recognizes public-listed or non-listed companies with outstanding best practices in management accounting.
The award was presented by Datuk Wan Selamah Wan Sulaiman, Accountant General of Malaysia on December 6, 2011 in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. Also present, Adelina Iskandar, Vice President (Corporate Affairs), representing the management of TNB. The past winners for the award are Telekom Malaysia Berhad (2007), Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Berhad (2008), Alliance Bank Malaysia Berhad (2009) and Maxis Berhad (2010). Tan Sri Leo Moggie, Chairman of TNB has been nominated as the recipient for ‘Outstanding Personality Award’ while TNB Integrated Learning Solution Sdn. Bhd. - ILSAS received the ‘Energy Industry: Category Provider’ on 11 October 2011 by the Energy Commission (ST).
Tan Sri Leo Moggie has been selected based on his leadership and achievements in the development of the energy industry. During the award giving ceremony, Tan Sri Leo was represented by his son, Michael Moggie. Meanwhile, ILSAS has been represented by its Managing Director, Ir. Khalidah Haron who accepted the award presented by Dato’ Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water. Chicago, Illinois, USA June 22, 2010 - UNITEN has been awarded as the recipient of the Best Performing Organizations in the World in Education for the World Class Award (Highest) category on 18-20 September 2010 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The award was given during the 16th APQO/ International Conference on Quality. As the winner and award recipient, UNITEN was invited to present a paper on its adopted best practices.

Based on the report submitted and supporting report from Malaysia Productivity Corporation and Ministry of Trade and Industry, UNITEN proved it has all the credentials in providing high quality education and services.
The journey of success in quality for UNITEN started since 2008 when UNITEN was given the certification for Quality Environment (QE) for both campuses and later progressed to win the National QE Award for the Open Category: Service Sector. Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) is to be honoured with the IQC International Quality Crown Award in the Gold Category which will be presented in London on November 29, 2010. This award which is brought by the Business Initiative Directions (B.I.D) is given in recognition to those companies or organisations in different countries throughout the world that further their reputation and position by implementing and promoting quality culture.
For this purpose, a voting process was carried out during the B.I.D. World Congress with meetings in Paris, London, Geneva, Frankfurt, Madrid and New York over the past ten months, based on one or several of the following concepts such as the QC100 principles, Customer Satisfaction, Leadership, Technology, Best Practise, Business Results, ISO 9000 and TQM.
The award recognizes and encourages the contribution of organisations to quality, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction as well as improving relations with employees, suppliers and all those associated with the organisation. The award presentation will take place during the International Quality Convention in London, on 28 - 29 November in the Ballroom of the Guoman Tower, London.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has once again been recognized for practicing the principles of Enterprise Governance by Malaysian Business - Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (CIMA). This year, TNB was awarded the Merit Award at the CIMA Enterprise Governance Awards 2010 held in Kuala Lumpur on October 1, 2010.
The award was presented by Y. Bhg. Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry to Mohamed Rafique Merican, Chief Financial Officer / Vice President (Finance) on behalf of TNB. The event, jointly organized by the Malaysian Business magazine and CIMA Malaysia, is intended to give recognition to Malaysian companies that have successfully adopted good and effective principles of Enterprise Governance. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) is awarded the Silver Award for the Best Video for Contact Centre.
The presentation of the Awards was held during the Gala Dinner on October 8, 2010 at the Sunway Resort Hotel, Petaling Jaya. The award was presented by Y.B. Dato’ Maznah Mazlan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources to Adelina Iskandar, Vice President (Corporate Affairs), TNB.
The dinner was attended by approximately 1,000 CCAM members in the Contact Centre industry from various sectors including GLCs, corporation, private, banking, insurance and media.
The award, in honour of the best Contact Centre in Malaysia, is to recognize: Besides winning the Silver Award for the Best Video for Contact Centre, TNB has been shortlisted for the Best CRM Programme Implementation category.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) wins the award for the “Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise in Employment Category” during the 2010 ASEAN Business & Investment Summit (ASEAN-BIS) held last week in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The award was presented in recognition of TNB’s manpower planning, its implementation of Performance Management System and the setting up of a private university, Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).
TNB Vice President of Human Resource, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Muhammad Razif Abdul Rahman received the award from the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, H.E. Mr. Pham Gia Khiem.
TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh described the award as another feather in the cap for the myriad of awards received by TNB in recognition of the Group’s outstanding performance. “Awards of this nature will inspire us to excel in our unwavering pursuits to be one of the top ranked utilities in the world,” he added.
A total of eight “Most Admired ASEAN Enterprise” winners were announced under the awards’ four categories: The winners were chosen out of 24 finalists under a strict selection process by an independent judging panel comprising top business leaders, economists and academics from ASEAN countries. TNB was also nominated as one of the finalists for the “Top 3 Most Admired Asean Enterprise in Corporate Social Responsibility Category”.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) leapt 159 spots to rank as the 550th world’s biggest company in this year’s list of Forbes Global 2000.
Forbes Global 2000 is an annual listing of 2000 of the world’s biggest corporations issued by Forbes. It uses an equal weighting of sales, profits, assets and market value to rank companies according to size.
Of the 20 Malaysian companies listed in Forbes Global 2000 for 2011, TNB was placed third with sales of US$9.6 billion, assets of US$23.6 billion and market value of US$11.1 billion.
“Electricity demand growth in line with the upswing in the domestic economy and the enhanced operational efficiencies push our ranking back into the 500 range this year from 709th in 2010,” said TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh.
“It will be a challenge to remain at this spot next year given the rising coal prices, insufficient gas supply and comparatively more expensive alternative fuels,” he added.

The Brand Leadership Award is the most prestigious award an individual can receive at the congress, the world’s leading conference on branding and marketing.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s (TNB) has scaled new heights as the 575th world’s biggest companies in this year’s Forbes Global 2000, a listing of 2000 of the world’s biggest corporations.
The list, which was introduced in 2004, uses an equal weighting of sales, profits, assets and market value to rank companies according to size.
Of the 19 Malaysian companies listed in Forbes Global 2000 for 2009, TNB is ranked third with sales of US$7.58 billion, assets of US$20.58 billion and market value of US$7.54 billion.
The national utility corporation has consistently edged higher in the Forbes Global 2000 list. It was ranked at 681 in 2007, an increase of 91 positions from 2006. In 2008, TNB surged 56 spots to be at the 625th place.

The Transformer Oil Laboratory at TNB Research had received international recognition as an “Excellent Laboratory” from the Institute of Inter-laboratory Studies (IIS) for 3 consecutive years.
This laboratory, which started its operations in 1994, is now a leading transformer oil laboratory in Malaysia . It is the first transformer oil laboratory to have achieved the prestigious ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation from the Department of Standards, Malaysia . It has also successfully applied the 6-sigma methodology to improve the performance of the laboratory from handling 100 tests samples per month to 500 samples currently.

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) continues to prove their credibility in Research and Development (R&D) by their commendable success in the recent Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2009 which was held from 15 - 17 May at Exhibition Hall, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). In this prestigious exhibition, UNITEN won three gold, four silver and three bronze medals. In addition to the medals won, UNITEN were also awarded the Gold Award for Best Booth Design under the bare space category (54 square metres & below).
All the three gold awards are from projects titled “Reconfigurable Logic (FPGA) and CPU Training Kit” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Razali Jidin as project leader, project “A Novel Type-E Temperature Sensor For Transient Heat Transfer Measurements” by Mr. Hussein A. Muhammad and “An On-Line Genetic Algorithm-Based High Precision Dispenser System for High Viscosity Material” project by Dr. Johnny Koh Siaw Paw. All three are from the College of Engineering (COE), UNITEN.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad gained global recognition for its inclusion in the Platts Top 250 Company 2008 list during an awards ceremony for the Asia/Pacific regions held on 20 October 2008 at Singapore.
The award is presented to a company who has shown excellent performance in terms of financial management and administration based on special criteria’s established by Platts. According to the 2008 rankings, TNB is ranked 100 from a list of 250 power companies worldwide. TNB participated in the 10th ASEAN Communication & Multimedia (ACM) Expo & Forum 2007 and was selected as the winner for Best New Services for several information technology applications used by TNB in its daily business operations and consumer services such as E-CIBS, Remote Meter Reading (RMR), On-Line Vendor Registration (OVR) and Mobile Field Force Automation (MFFA).
