Perling Main Intake Substation Outage: Power supply to be fully restored tonight

The repair works for the Perling Main Intake Substation, Johor to supply power to parts of Johor through the national grid continues.

“It is predicted to be done tonight or tomorrow afternoon. For now, users are connected through 112 TNB mobile generator sets and other generators will receive supply as usual.” said General Manager (Customer Service) Johor, Distribution Division, Datuk Hj. Baderul Sham Saad.

At the moment Paradigm Mall, Country Garden and AEON Bukit Indah is connected to power supply using their own generators.

At 10.45 a.m., Tuesday, 12 December 2017, the 33kV high voltage installations at the Main Intake Substation was damaged which caused the load loss of 54 MW in parts of Johor.

Swift action by TNB enabled almost half of the supply load to be restored in 10 minutes and remaining load within 4 hours through feedback from grid system,” said Datuk Hj. Baderul.

A total of 2600 users had their power supply restored in stages after four hours.

The restoration took time due to the complex repairs needed for major damage to the Main Intake Substation.

While the restorations were made, power supply was connected through feedback from the Grid system as well as mobile generator sets.

22 substations in Bukit Indah were affected since 13 December 2017 because feedback was needed with TNB mobile generator sets brought in from the whole country.

As of now, all substations were successfully restored with TNB mobile generator sets through feedback.

“TNB regrets the incident and understands the difficulties users are facing. We appreciate your cooperation and patience while we work to restore the power supply.” said Datuk Hj. Baderul.
