Maximum demand is the capacity of electricity usage, and it works to assess the level of capacity (load) of electricity used by customers.

Maximum demand is measured in kilowatts, and it is calculated as double the highest amount of electricity used (in kilowatt-hours) within any consecutive period of thirty minutes in a month.

The calculation of maximum demand varies depending on the customer tariff categories, however it is only applicable to customers using a supply of 6.6 kV and above.
