Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN) invites qualified Malaysians to apply for financial aid in the form of a Convertible Loan to pursue study programs in local public universities (IPTA).

Fields of Study

Bachelor's Degree (Hons.) and Diploma in the following fields:

Engineering Non-Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering (Power)
  • Electrical & Electronic Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Civil Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Information Technology
  • Finance / Accounting

Academic Requirements & Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree

  • Passed STPM with at least grade B in 3 subjects, OR

  • Passed Diploma with at least a CGPA of 2.70 in a related field of study, OR

  • Passed Matriculation with at least a CGPA of 2.50 in a related field of study.

Diploma

  • Passed SPM with an aggregate of no more than 25 units* in Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, in addition to 3 more selected subjects based on field of study:

    •  Engineering

      • Additional Mathematics / Physics / Chemistry / English

    • Non-Engineering

      • English / Mathematics / Science / Physics / Additional Mathematics / Chemistry /Principles of Accounting / Commerce / Basic Economics / History / Geography

        OR         pick one of the following subjects with the highest grade:

      • Moral Studies / Islamic Knowledge / Advanced Arabic / Arabic (Communication) / Tasawwur Islam / Quranic and Sunnah Studies / Islamic Syariah Studies

  • Passed Certificate (Sijil) with at least a CGPA of 2.80 in a related field of study.

* Aggregate Calculation Method

(A+ = 0, A = 1, A- = 2, B+ = 3, B = 4, C+ = 5, C = 6, D = 7, E = 8, G = 9)

General Requirements

  • Must be no older than 23 years old in the year of application.

  • Have already been accepted into a public university (IPTA).

  • Students currently enrolled in a public institute of higher learning with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 (based on latest examination results) are eligible to apply.

  • Loan is limited to two (2) members of the same family at any given time, i.e. one in a public university  (IPTA) and one in UNITEN.

  • Students currently enrolled in the second/third semester of the Foundation Level are NOT eligible to apply.

  • Students who previously have been terminated from convertible study loan offered by YTN are not eligible to apply. 

  • The number of Convertible Study Loans offered is limited.
