'A' BillPrint this pageThe 'A' Bill is also known as the average bill. It is based on an estimate of your average electricity consumption in one month. You will know that your bill is an A Bill when there is the letter 'A' printed in the Meter Reading Code section on your bill. An A bill will be issued to you in the event that a TNB meter reader finds that your meter is not functioning or faulty. If the monthly electricity consumption stated in the A bill is 91 units or less, you will still be entitled for the RM20 Government subsidy. Backdated Billing and Billing AdjustmentsIf the cause of the faulty meter was due to normal irregularities, backdated billing will be done no more than 3 months from the date you are informed about the faulty meter.
Backdated billing will be done based on your average power consumption. This average is calculated based on your actual consumption over the three (3) months after your faulty meter has been replaced.
Billing adjustments are done by taking your backdated bill amount and subtracting it with the amount you have paid during the time your meter is faulty. If it is found that you have paid more than you should, then the difference will be credited back to your account. However if it is found you have not paid enough, you will have to settle the outstanding amount. How Your Average Consumption is DeterminedThe A Bill calculation is based on your average electricity usage for the past 6 months, based on actual meter reading at your premises. The average usage is then multiplied by the duration being billed and the tariff rate to determine the bill amount. Average electricity usage will be updated in the billing system once actual reading is conducted. This means that average amounts will not be updated in the billing system in cases of estimate bills or average bills due to faulty meters. Here are 2 methods to determine your average consumption, based on meter reading scenarios at your premises:
Total no. of days = 30 + 31 + 30 + 30 + 31 + 29
= 181 days
Total usage = 601 + 642 + 603 + 641 + 638 + 726
= 3,851.00 Units
Average usage = 3,851/181 x 30 days
= 638.29 Units
Scenario 2: Combination of monthly readings and estimated billing
Note:
How the A Bill is CalculatedIf Using More Than 400 Units a Month Suppose your average consumption is 638.29. Your bill will be calculated as follows:- Actual consumption = average consumption x duration being billed
= 638.29 / 30 x 30
= 638.29 units
= 638 units (rounded to the nearest integer)
Your A bill will be calculated as follows:
If Using Less than 400 Units a Month Suppose your average consumption is 397.96. Your bill will be calculated as follows:- Actual consumption = average consumption x duration being billed
= 397.96/30 x 30
= 397.96 units
= 398 units (rounded to the nearest integer)
Your A bill will be calculated as follows:
