Since 2018, we have sponsored three (3) Better Brighter Anjung Kasih as a result of collaboration with the National Welfare Foundation (YKN). This includes the Better Brighter Anjung Kasih YKN-TNB in Hospital Serdang, Selangor; Hospital Melaka and Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
The collaboration aims to strengthen support for government health programs and social welfare for the community, especially for the less fortunate, in the hope that it could assist family and relatives of patients who are unable to rent accommodations or bear the daily travel costs to and from the hospital.
Providing Relief: How Anjung Kasih Helps Families of Critical Patients
Realizing the challenges faced by patients' families and relatives who frequently need to accompany patients for treatment at the hospital, TNB, through the sponsorship of Anjung Kasih YKN, has taken on the social responsibility of providing free transit housing for patients' families and relatives, especially families of critical patients coming from rural areas or who cannot afford to rent a place but need to accompany and care for patients receiving treatment at hospitals.
Since the establishment of the first Anjung Kasih YKN in 2006, a total of 107,633 residents have benefited from 19 Anjung Kasih operating across the country. TNB, through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) platform, has sponsored a total of RM3,803,660 for the upgrading of building work, furniture equipment, facility amenities, and the maintenance costs of the transit house over the past five years.
The accommodations were built with a concept that is comfortable, safe, and of high quality to ensure the welfare of the target groups is guaranteed. This, in turn, allows them to fully focus on caring for and recovering the patients without worrying about additional financial burdens. In 2020, the premises also benefitted the frontliners who have to always be prepared to carry out ad-hoc duties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Strengthening Support for Those in Need: Continuous Contributions to YKN's Welfare Programmes
In addition to the sponsorship of Anjung Kasih YKN, TNB also contributes and supports YKN's fundraising programs. This includes donations of dialysis machines to YKN's dialysis treatment centers through the Women’s Association of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (Pelitawanis), which consists of TNB's female workforce and spouses of TNB personnel.
The CSR contributions from TNB to YKN is now amounting to RM6.5 million, covering various target groups under YKN in efforts to assist those in need. The close cooperation between TNB and YKN has been evident in implementing this initiative, demonstrating the efforts of both parties to ensure that patients' families receive moral and physical support while facing challenges.
TNB's commitment will continue in the efforts of caring for those in need, alongside our core activities to ensure adequate and reliable energy supply for the entire nation through ongoing energy system investments.
