A senior citizen broke down in tears of joy after receiving the key to a new house donated by Tenaga Nasional Berhad today. Sofiah Chin’s old house was severely damaged in a thunderstorm in Balik Pulau on Dec 29.

The 58-year-old cleaner said she was so grateful for the donation as she had been dreaming to have a comfortable house for her and her sister, 61-year-old Salemah Chin, who is a person with disability. “We are so happy and grateful, especially to be able to welcome the holy month of Ramadan in a new house,” she said after the presentation.

Her new house is  in Kampung Sungai Rusa. At the event, 20 families also received TNB donation and cash of RM1,000. TNB senior general manager Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin said TNB has allocated RM2mil this year to build 48 house across the country in its Baiti Jannati community service project.
