TNB Appoints Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul Bin Ahmad As New President/Chief Executive Officer 1 March 2026

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) today announced the appointment of Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul bin Ahmad as its new President/Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 March 2026.

He succeeds Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin bin Megat Hassan, who completed his tenure on 28 February 2026 after serving as President and CEO since March 2024.

Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul currently serves as TNB’s Chief Regulatory and Stakeholder Management Officer, where he has played a pivotal role in shaping the industry’s regulatory landscape and strengthening stakeholder confidence in support of TNB’s long-term aspirations. With more than 37 years of service in TNB, he brings extensive leadership experience across multiple portfolios.

Prior to this appointment, he was the Managing Director of TNB Fuel Sdn. Bhd. and previously led TNB Janamanjung Sdn. Bhd. for a decade. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University, USA, and a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Tenaga Nasional.

The Board of Directors expressed its sincere appreciation to Datuk Ir. Megat Jalaluddin for his leadership and contributions in strengthening TNB’s operational excellence, financial resilience and long-term value creation. Under his stewardship, TNB reinforced its core fundamentals while accelerating its Energy Transition agenda in support of Malaysia’s netzero ambitions by 2050.

The Board congratulates Datuk Ir. Ts. Shamsul on his appointment and is confident that his deep institutional knowledge, regulatory expertise and operational experience will ensure continuity, drive transformation and further strengthen TNB’s role as Malaysia’s national energy champion and a leading provider of sustainable energy solutions domestically and internationally.
