TNB Units Awarded PAS 55 Asset Management Certificates

Both Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) Transmission Division and TNB’s wholly-owned subsidiary, TNB Janamanjung Sdn. Bhd. have been certified to the Publicly Available Specification for Asset Management (PAS 55-1: 2008), the internationally-recognised crossindustry framework for asset management system.

The certification which follows rigorous and stringent process of assessment, is recognition of the division and the subsidiary’s adherence to the accepted global best practices in asset management. Compliance to PAS 55-1:2008 also demonstrates TNB’s strong commitment and continuous efforts to improve its services.

TNB Transmission Division was assessed and certified by Lloyd’s Register Verification Limited, United Kingdom while TNB Janamanjung Sdn. Bhd. was assessed and certified by PricewaterhouseCoopers The Asset Partnership. This makes TNB the first utility in Southeast Asia to receive PAS 55-1:2008 certification by Lloyd’s Register and by PricewaterhouseCoopers The Asset Partnership.

The certificates were presented to TNB at two separate events held recently. Lloyd’s Register technical Services Sdn. Bhd. Managing Director, Azhar Sulaiman presented the certificate to TNB Vice President of Transmission, Datuk Rozimi Remeli in the presence of TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Ir. Azman Mohd.

Separately, Senior Consultant of Pricewaterhouse Coopers The Asset Partnership, Brian Konkoly presented the certificate to TNB Janamanjung Head of Production, Azizul Othman on behalf of Chief Operating Officer/General Manager, Haji Shamsul Ahmad.

Prior to attaining the PAS 55-1: 2008 certification, an organisation must show appropriately that their management systems comply to the 28 clause requirements in the PAS 55-1:2008, which are necessary towards optimisation of their assets. The related process and procedures are rigorously challenged and tested by the assessors.
