12/07/2020

The supply of electricity from the National Grid to Pulau Langkawi will be further strengthened when a 26.5km submarine cable commences its operation this month.

The new submarine cable is Tenaga Nasional Berhad’s (TNB) third high-voltage cable installed to connect the paradisiacal island with the National Grid.

The project of laying the cable connecting the Kuala Perlis Transmission Main Intake (PMU) with the Teluk Apau PMU in the island commenced in July 2018 and is now 98 per cent complete.

TNB President/ Chief Executive Officer Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan who visited the works on the cable last week, was satisfied with the progress of the project which has been on schedule.
