MRT Corp And TNB Forge Landmark Partnership to Advance Sustainable Rail Infrastructure

• First-ever strategic collaboration with national electricity utility to begin at RTS Link's Bukit Chagar Station and Wadi Hana Depot, building on the project's 5-Star Sustainable INFRASTAR recognition

Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) are strengthening its longstanding collaboration through a strategic partnership to advancesustainable energy solutions, green mobility and the development of more energy-efficient and resilient rail infrastructure.

The partnership brings together MRT Corp’s role in developing and managing a wide portfolio of urban rail infrastructure assets with TNB’s capabilities as Malaysia’s national electricity utility to identify opportunities that can improve energy performance, support greener mobility and contribute to a more sustainable infrastructure operation.

Formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) exchanged at Transport Expo Asia (TXA) 2026 in Kuala Lumpur today, the collaboration builds on the organisations’ existing working relationship across the MRT1, MRT2, Penang Mutiara Line and Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link projects.

The MOU was exchanged between MRT Corp Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim and TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Ir. Ts. Shamsul Ahmad, witnessed by Transport Minister, YB Loke Siew Fook.
