TNB's Subsidiary Wins Two Asean Energy Awards

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)‘s wholly-owned subsidiary,  TNB Janamanjung Sdn Bhd (TNB Janamanjung)  won two awards at the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards 2013 held in Bali, Indonesia recently.

The two awards are in the ASEAN Best Practise in Coal Projects category, namely Corporate Social Responsibility and   Quality Journey To Pass British Standard Institution (BSI)  Publicly Available Specification for Asset Management (PAS 55-1: 2008) Certification. The awards were received by TNB Chief Corporate Officer (CCO), Dato’ Roslan Ab Rahman.

Incepted in 2000,  the annual Asean Energy Award is a competition organised by the Asean Centre for Energy (ACE)  to recognise outstanding works in the areas of renewable energy development namely hydro, wind, biomass,  geothermal and solar as well as best practices that contribute to energy efficiency in the region.

TNB Janamanjung was the only Malaysian coal-fired power plant operator who competed for the awards. For the CSR sub-category,  it beat nine other operators from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Philippine, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

TNB Janamanjung currently has 2,100 MegaWatt (MW)  generation capacity through three coal-fired power plants.  TNB Janamanjung’s generation capacity will increase by an additional 1,000 MW once its new plant, currently under construction, is completed in 2015.
