Selangor Sultan Launches Fireflies Book

The DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah launched “The Mysterious and Magical World of Fireflies : Kampung Kuantan, Kuala Selangor” recently on 26 August 2009, at a breaking of fast function at Universiti Tenaga Nasional’s mosque. The fireflies book was mooted by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to preserve the insects. The initiatives is part of TNB’s corporate social responsibility and a joint effort with the Selangor government. TNB has been entrusted with the upgrading of infrastructure, conducting of promotional activities and research on the fireflies in Kampung Kuantan. Written by Hajah Embon Abdullah, the coffee table book features pictures and information on the life-cycle and description of fireflies in Kuala Selangor. Also present were Menteri Besar Selangor, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim and Sepang District Officer, Mohd Amin Ahmad Ahyar, TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh, TNB Senior Vice President (Operations & Technical), Datuk Wira Md. Sidek Ahmad and TNB Senior Vice President (Corporate Affairs), Dato’ Abd. Razak Abdul Majid.
