KUALA LUMPUR: Tenaga Switchgear Sdn Bhd (TSG) officially opened its doors to their new office factory in Kota Damansara today. The new factory was officiated by Minister of International Trade and Industry Y.B. Datuk Seri Rafidah Aziz. Today’s ceremony also saw the signing of the Technical Service Agreement between TSG and Xian Electrical Manufacturing Company Limited, Xian, China. The Agreement affirms the companies’ objectives to produce high quality products that conform to International Electro-technical Commission (IEC) Standards through the incorporation of advanced manufacturing technologies. Xian Electric Group is the largest and most well-known manufacturer of high voltage power transmission (up to 500kV) equiptment in China. By partnering with Xian Electric Group, TSG will be able to supply better quality switchgears at competitive prices for the local and international markets. A subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), TSG was incorporated on 26 October 1994. Its incorporation was part of TNB’s drive to diversify its activities into manufacturing of high voltage switchgears besides providing maintenance services and turnkey contracts for TNB substations. TNB Chairman, Y.B. Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leo Moggie pointed out that TSG had been accredited both the Type Test Certificates for Conformity to IEC Standards and Safety and ISO 9001:2000 Quality System certifications. This meant that TSG’s product range and specifications are in compliance with SIRIM requirements. He further added, “These achievements are in recognition of TSG as the symbol of quality in the switchgear industry, as well as an indication of TNB’s commitment to providing quality products and reliable services to the nation at large.” TSG is the only local company that manufactures and supplies switchgear products for the local market. With a growing reputation for industry quality, the company has also managed to position itself in the international market, having branches in both Pakistan and Vietnam, with plans to expand to other nations.
