As stipulated in the RE Act 2011, the RE fund (KWTBB) is collected through a surcharge of consumers’ electricity consumption at the rate of 1.6%.

Surcharge of RE Fund (KWTBB) applies to all customers except for domestic customers with electricity consumption of 300kWh and below per month.

How is RE Fund (KWTBB) surcharge calculated?

RE Fund (KWTBB) surcharge is calculated as follows:

RE Fund (KWTBB) Surcharge = 1.6% × [(kWh+kW) – Discounts] (for consumption of 300 kwh and above)

Example:
RE Fund (KWTBB) Surcharge = RM100 (Current Bill) X 1.6% = RM1.60

In the effort to diversify the nation's energy resources, electricity can be generated from renewable energy resources. It is our duty to help sustaining the reserve of natural resources for our future generations to be able to enjoy the same benefits that we have now. Therefore, it is vital to foster awareness to consumers that the supply of natural resources like coal, gas and oil is depleting and will run out if it is not used prudently. The RE Fund (KWTBB) was introduced to help sustaining the natural resources in term of fossil fuels for our future generation.
