TNB Signs MoU With Tyco Electronics to Lift Technical Expertise

TNB Integrated Learning Solution Sdn. Bhd. (ILSAS), the training institute of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Energy Division of Tyco Electronics signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to share technical expertise and collaborate on technological innovations. The scope of the MOU covers:

     
  • Partnering to deliver training to TNB and other utilities or industrial projects throughout Asia
  •  
  • Working together to develop technological innovations to resolve problems faced by the distribution and transmission areas of utilities
  •  
  • Jointly holding seminars and workshops at ILSAS to update managers, engineers and trainers on recent trends in power technology

The collaboration will add value to TNB ILSAS training in the areas of Low, Medium and High Voltage cable accessories, insulators, surge arresters, insulation enhancement systems, connectors for conductors, busbars and facilities within substations. It also includes the development of new courses that will upgrade the technical skills of the workers, technicians and engineers in the industry. TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh in his opening remarks said the MoU provides TNB ILSAS with the opportunity to accelerate its growth, increase its regional exposure and improve its penetration into the Asian and international market. “This technical cooperation will propel TNB ILSAS as the “Centre of Excellence for Training” in the Asian region, in line with TNB’s 20 year’s strategic plan for geographical expansion in the year 2015,“he added. Asia Managing Director of Tyco Electronics’ Energy Division, Bastian Willenbuecher meanwhile described the collaboration as a major platform for his company to contribute towards further improvement in the service quality of the electrical power industry. “As we are facing unprecedented challenges in upgrading the skill and technical expertise of workers in the utility industry, this collaboration is timely”, he said. The MoU was signed by Y. Bhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib, who is also the Chairman of TNB ILSAS while Tyco Electronics’ Energy Division was represented by Mr Willenbuecher. TNB Chief Operating Officer/Managing Director, Ir. Dato’ Azman Mohd, TNB Vice President of Human Resources, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Muhammad Razif Abdul Rahman and TNB ILSAS Managing Director, Ir. Hajjah Khalidah Haron were present at the signing ceremony.
