Another Success for UNITEN

Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) continues to prove their credibility in Research and Development (R&D) by their commendable success in the recent Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX) 2009 which was held from 15 - 17 May at Exhibition Hall, Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC). In this prestigious exhibition, UNITEN won three gold, four silver and three bronze medals. In addition to the medals won, UNITEN were also awarded the Gold Award for Best Booth Design under the bare space category (54 square metres & below). All the three gold awards are from projects titled “Reconfigurable Logic (FPGA) and CPU Training Kit” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Razali Jidin as project leader, project “A Novel Type-E Temperature Sensor For Transient Heat Transfer Measurements” by Mr. Hussein A. Muhammad and “An On-Line Genetic Algorithm-Based High Precision Dispenser System for High Viscosity Material” project by Dr. Johnny Koh Siaw Paw. All three are from the College of Engineering (COE), UNITEN. ITEX is the region’s leading exhibition to showcase new inventions, new technologies and products, with the aim to secure investment, manufacturing and commercialisation prospects and partners. Held annually and in its 20th series, ITEX is organised by MINDS (Malaysian Invention & Design Society), the largest body in Malaysia representing individuals, universities and companies which pursue excellence in invention, creativity, research and development and industrial design. UNITEN has participated in ITEX since 2006. Congratulations to the winners and their team members for placing UNITEN at a greater height.
