The launch also saw the company’s top management usher in the 2007 Chinese New Year festivities today in a simple, but meaningful ceremony. During the launch ceremony, President/Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh conveyed his wishes of appreciation to the 54 employees who turned up for the campaign audition sessions. ‘It is your contributing efforts that has led TNB to where we are today. Thanks to all of you and your continuing loyalty to the company, we have managed to ensure that our vision of achieving service excellence by the year 2010 is still on track,’ said Dato’ Sri Che Khalib . Dato’ Sri Che Khalib also reminded the staff that a cheerful heart and a giving attitude was required of all employees as TNB continued to be the country’s provider of power supply. The 54 employees were later presented with a certificate of appreciation each for participating in the advertising campaign. This year’s Chinese New Year advertising campaign marks a significant change in the national power utility’s corporate imaging strategies. Previously, corporate advertisements in conjunction with the nation’s various festivals were crafted and fictionalized. For the first time, the company chose to take a ‘behind-the-scenes at work’ concept in its campaign themes. The television commercial series includes eight different videos featuring TNB employees from various divisions and positions. In the commercials, the staff are filmed expressing Chinese New Year auspicious greetings in both Mandarin Cantonese, while going about their daily duties at work. President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh is also featured wishing the public ‘sang yi heng long’ (may you achieve great success in your business endeavours) in one of the commercials. The segment marks the CEO’s first casual public appearance in a non-operational environment. The Chinese New Year advertisement campaign is the first in a series of corporate commercials with the ‘behind-the-scenes’ take. Apart from having the aim of giving a glimpse of the faces behind the utility’s workforce, the company also hopes to provide recognition to the many layers of the 25,000 odd employee-workforce of TNB through its new branding strategy.
