Smart Partnership Between UNITEN And Kazakh National Technical University

Putrajaya - Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and Kazakh National Technical University (KazNTU), Kazakhstan have sealed the deal on a wide range of collaborative endeavours. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) officially rubber stamping the partnership took place on 17 April 2012 at the Putrajaya Campus.

For the signing ceremony, UNITEN was represented by its Vice Chancellor, Dato’ Seri Prof.  Mashkuri Yaacob while KazNTU was represented by its Rector, Mr. Zhexenbek Adilov. The event was witnessed by H.E. Mr. Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, who was also head of the delegation.

The MOU marks the auspicious beginning of mutual understanding and commitment to bilateral cooperation from both institutions. The potential areas for collaboration between the two parties include the exchange of academic staff, student exchange programmes and joint research and teaching activities.

This collaboration is a continuation of an already existing programme that is currently ongoing between the two establishments which will see 50 students from Kazakhstan enrolling in academic courses at UNITEN from September this year. “The students involved will be majoring in engineering, information technology or business and accounting”, said Prof. Dr. Ir. Kamal Nasharuddin bin Mustapha, UNITEN’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs, Alumni and Management).

In his speech, H.E. Mr. Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov said he has heard only good things about UNITEN and is pleased with the collaboration between both institutions. He also added, “This signing ceremony is indeed a special and meaningful occasion and I am glad to be here to witness this momentous event”.

Also present at the ceremony were Mr. Sayasat Nurbek, the President of JSC “Center for International Programs” of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Sayat Boranbayev, Assistant to H.E. Mr. Bakhytzhan Zhumagulov, representatives from the Embassy of the Republic Kazakhstan in Malaysia as well as the management of UNITEN.
