Students Exchange Program - UNITEN & Kazakhstan International IT University

Putrajaya - A delegation of 35 students from the International IT University (IITU) of Almaty, Kazakhstan arrived on Sunday, 30 May 2010 at UNITEN under the ticket of the Students Exchange Program between UNITEN and IITU. This Students Exchange Program is the outcome of the visit by Prof Damir Shynybekov, Rector of IITU to UNITEN and the return visit by AP Dr Siti Salbiah Mohamed Shariff and Prof Ir Dr Kamal Nasharuddin Mustapha to IITU recently where a Memorandum of Understanding was signed on March 2, 2010. Both UNITEN and IITU have identified areas of collaboration and cooperation relating to student exchange, academic program development, postgraduate studies, joint research & teaching and academic quality assurance. This program, which materialised within three months of signing the MOU, shows the committment of both parties to work together in areas of common interest. Conducted at UNITEN for a period of two weeks, the Kazakhstan students will be participating in activities related to IT, English & Communication Skills and Culture & Sports, under the supervision of the College of Information Technology, College of Liberal Studies and Student Affairs Centre respectively. In addition, these students will further stretch their wings during their visits to our historical Melaka, the ever popular tourist sites Genting Highlands and Putrajaya. This program is an important start to this meaningful collaboration between UNITEN and IITU. It is anticipated that more activities will be conducted between UNITEN and IITU in areas of student exchange including credit transfer for IITU students wishing to pursue their studies at UNITEN, staff development with identified IITU staff continuing their Masters and PhD at UNITEN, staff exchange program, short courses, Intensive English Program and foundation program.
