TNB Signs Operation & Maintenance Agreement With Laraib Energy Limited

TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn. Bhd. (TNB REMACO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) signed an Operation and Maintenance Agreement (OMA) with Laraib Energy Limited of Pakistan. Laraib Energy Limited is the owner and developer of the project which is located on the Jhelum River in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Under this agreement, TNB REMACO will be appointed as the operator of the 84 MW New Bong Escape Hydroelectric Power Complex in Pakistan. It will also be responsible to provide technical personnel and skilled expertise for daily operations and routine maintenance of the complex. These services are for an initial period of five years with an option of extending for another seven years. The 15-months mobilization period is expected to commence this August. TNB President/Chief Executive Officer, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh who is also the TNB REMACO Chairman, in his opening remarks said this agreement marks another step in the business relationship between TNB REMACO and Hub Power Company Limited (HUBCO) which is a major shareholder of Laraib Energy. “This new agreement marks TNB REMACO’s second collaboration with Hub Power Company, the first being the operation and maintenance agreement for the 213.6 MW diesel and co-generation power plant at narrowal district in the province of Punjab, Pakistan signed in February 2010. It will further augment TNB REMACO’s reputation as a one stop service provider for power related works and also identify TNB REMACO’s repair center as a regional repair hub, in line with TNB’s aim to be a global brand,” he added. The agreement was signed by Y. Bhg. Dato’ Sri Che Khalib and Laraib Energy Ltd.Chairman, Mr. Vince Harris who is also the HUBCO Chief Executive Officer. It was witnessed by TNB Vice President of Generation, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Ir. Haji Mohd Nazri Shahruddin and Laraib Energy Ltd. Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Hasnain Haider. Deputy Secretary General (Energy), Ministry Of Energy, Green Technology And Water, Badaruddin Bin Mahyudin and Deputy High Commissioner, Embassy of Pakistan, Dr. Imtiaz A. Kazi were also present at the signing ceremony.
