TNB REMACO Awarded RM117 Million Maintenance Contract By Petronas Gas
29/10/2009
TNB Repair and Maintenance Sdn Bhd (TNB REMACO), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tenaga Nasional Bhd, has been awarded an eight-year contract by PETRONAS Gas Bhd (PGB) for the maintenance of nine gas turbine generators and their auxiliary systems at PGB’s centralised utility facilities (CUF) in Kerteh, Terengganu and in Gebeng, Pahang. The contract covers the supply of spare parts, manpower for inspections of the turbines and the repair of their components. The contract requires TNB REMACO to complete a total of nine major overhauls and nine hot gas path inspections to the turbines, which were manufactured and supplied by GE. The contract is valued at approximately RM117 million and will see TNB REMACO perform the maintenance work at both CUF until 2017, maximising local content in executing the scope of the contract. Repairs of the gas turbine components will be carried out at its Repair Center in Klang, Selangor. TNB REMACO will also receive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) support from GE via a contract with GE Energy Services, which will supply parts and provide services—including technical advisory and training—for the maintenance of the nine turbine units. PGB is the gas processing and transmission arm of PETRONAS. It also owns and operates the two CUF in Kerteh and Gebeng, commissioned in 1999 and 2000 respectively to supply utilities like steam, electricity, industrial gases and water to the various plants within the Integrated Petrochemical Complexes in the two areas. TNB REMACO and Petronas Gas Berhad jointly signed the “Maintenance Service Agreement” for the works of ‘Maintenance of Gas Turbine Generator (GTG) and Its Auxiliary System’ in CUF-Kerteh and CUF-Gebeng as well as a ‘Multi-Year Maintenance Program (MMP) Agreement’ between TNB REMACO and GE Energy Parts International Consortium (GEEPI LLC) and GE Power Sytems (M) Sdn Bhd (GEPSM) as technical partner for CUF-Kerteh and CUF-Gebeng works on 28 October 2009 in Kuala Lumpur.
